“a song composed by a group of Mexican nuns”

extrait du livret d’Anibal Velasquez, Mambo loco – dont je parle dans le prochain article:

“Through it all, Velásquez’s inventiveness created many hits, like “Dominique” a song composed by a group of Mexican nuns, which landed in the musician’s hands thanks to an Ecuadorian contact. After Velásquez gave it his very own twist, the song sold successfully and was even recorded by many other bands. Eventually, accompanied by a priest, the nuns traveled to Barranquilla to meet the musician, blessed him thankfully, and returned to Mexico with a handsome royalty check for 6 million pesos, a large sum in those days.”
